The Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation District completed a remodel and addition to the existing recreation center to meet increased community needs. The improved center provides patrons access to a 25-yard lap pool, a lazy river, a zero-depth pool with children's play features, a remodeled whirlpool/spa, an indoor/outdoor slide, and a sauna. An extensive selection of free weights and cable weight machines, along with selectorized and cardio equipment, were also added. Increased community gathering spaces provide a much-needed venue in this Colorado mountain community.
The exterior façade and the interior design reflect the local culture of the historic mining center while also giving it a modern flair. The center circulation area in the front lobby is designed to look like a mine shaft, complete with a coal cart suspended from the beams.
