The Westwood Recreation Center project is currently in the public outreach phase. Essenza Architecture is working with Architect of Record, Anderson Mason Dale, to engage the community to discover their wishes, concerns and needs. Essenza is leading the aquatic design portion including space calculations, program adjacency planning and overall design of the pool and leading the interior exercise space layout. Public outreach is currently underway. The selected 2.9 - acre site offers prominent visibility and access to the neighborhood. In 2020, plans for the center progressed after bond - funding was approved by voters. Preliminary programming includes an indoor aquatics facilities, gymnasium, and fitness areas for weights and cardio activities. Other features may include leisure pool, therapy pool, walk/jog track, sports courts, community kitchen, community meeting rooms, senior or youth rooms, offices, dressing rooms, and support spaces .
